Plantar Fasciitis

heel pain while walkingPlantar fasciitis involves inflammation in the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the bottom of your foot, continuing up into your calf and lower leg.

Many people with inflamed soft tissues have a noticeably abnormal gait. The most common symptom is significant pain when you first step out of bed every morning, especially in your heel, that lessens over the course of the day.

Improving the Structure of Your Feet

At Abercrombie Chiropractic, we’ve had tremendous success helping patients with pain in the foot, ankle, and leg. Chiropractic care specializes in caring for the entire musculoskeletal system, which involves every muscle, cell, tissue, and ligament in your body—not just the spine. We can adjust the foot, which actually has more bones than the back does. Our care also helps strengthen and rehabilitate affected muscles and tissues while resolving any inflammation.

Since every part of your body is interconnected, it’s possible that dysfunction may indicate an issue somewhere else in the body. We’ve relieved low back pain simply by adjusting patients’ feet before! During your appointment, we’ll carefully examine your entire body to identify every area in need of care.

A Step-by-Step Approach to Wellness

We respond to pain with a comprehensive approach that targets both joints and soft tissues. Dr. Abercrombie will adjust your feet to make sure the joints are all moving the way they’re supposed to. We want to remove any restrictions that might be creating inflammation.

We may also do laser therapy or Active Release Technique® to address all the adhesions and restrictions in the soft tissues from your calf down into your foot. As a result, you should feel less pain, and movements will become easy again.

One patient with plantar fasciitis had tried everything, with no success—injections, ice, massage, physical therapy, and even surgery.

After a 12-minute session of laser therapy, she spent four days pain free for the very first time! She couldn’t wait for her next session and the relief it would bring.
