Auto Accident Chiropractic at Abercrombie Chiropractic

Woman with neck pain after accident
If you’ve been in an auto accident, you know just how devastating it can be. It doesn’t have to be a large collision to have serious effects on your health, either. At Abercrombie Chiropractic, we see many people who have been in a motor vehicle accident and want to recover their health.

Seek Chiropractic Before the Pain Sets In

The majority of people don’t know that it’s necessary to get attention right after their accident. Some go to the ER to make sure that there’s no major damage. Typically, they’ll give you pain medication and send you on your way.

But then days or weeks later, you’re in so much pain that it’s uncomfortable. You’re not sleeping well, and headaches are a regular part of your life. You get tired of taking medications to cover it up. That’s when most seek chiropractic.

Hidden Damage

If you’re in a fender bender, you might figure that your car doesn’t have much damage, so you must be fine. You may not feel much at first; that’s true. But studies show that a collision as slow as eight miles per hour can still cause fractures, contusion and nerve damage, regardless of whether your car is damaged. At that speed, you have up to 13 Gs of force put into your spine, particularly your neck.

If you’ve been in a car accident, it’s a good idea to get checked. You can have a bleed or micro tear and have no idea until the pain slowly builds up. The earlier any potential issues are caught, the better the outcome will be.

When you go to urgent care or the emergency room, they’re all about taking lifesaving measures. If you’re bleeding profusely or have a broken limb, there’s no better place to be. They’ll make sure you don’t have any major issues.

What they do not do, however, is rehabilitation. And even in avenues like physical therapy, they don’t address joints that aren’t properly aligned. You’ll only get that through chiropractic care, as well as be able to strengthen the area once it has gotten better.

Is there a different new patient process for me if I've been in an auto accident?

You will have some additional paperwork to fill out that gives details of your accident. Otherwise, you’ll receive the same thorough examination as anyone else.
Do you work with attorneys?

Yes. Our auto accident patients typically pay out of pocket, then receive documentation from us to send to their insurance and collect. We also accept Med Pay. The coverage amount varies depending on the plan, so we recommend that you be sure to check your coverage amount. If you use Med-Pay, we’ll need the claim adjuster’s name and the claim number.
What if I was in an accident years ago?

No matter how long ago your accident happened, you can still benefit from getting care. You’ll see from X-rays of your spine where the degeneration has occurred since your accident. But the care you receive from us will help to address this degeneration.
Why should I still go to the chiropractor if my accident wasn't recent?

If you don’t start taking care of your spine and the joints of the body, you can have long-term changes that will become irreversible. Plus, the stress on your nervous system will affect every other function of your body.
What are some of the symptoms I might experience after a car accident?

There is a huge range of symptoms people experience from accidents. These include pain, loss of vision, loss of sense of smell, headaches, sleeping problems and bowel issues. Do not think that living with these types of challenges is normal-it’s a sign that your body needs some help, and that’s what you will find here.
